Pavement Repairs and Patching

Have a localized problem area in your lot?

Depending on the situation, sometimes a surface patch is all that is required. Surface repairs are generally not structural repairs and normally will not solve problems where issues with the sub base have occurred. These types of repairs can also cause water problems if not done correctly. We will evaluate your case to determine the feasibility of this type of repair.

Full Depth Replacement

Too deep and you’ve paid too much, too shallow and the repair won’t hold up.

By adding up to 10 times more life span than patch work, full depth replacement is often a very cost effective fix for the distressed areas in your surface. The perimeter is saw cut and the distressed asphalt is removed and replaced with new rock and asphalt to provide enough strength to meet or exceed your specific load requirements.

Milling and Pulverizing

Grind it down. Build it up. Save a lot.

Milling or grinding as it is sometimes referred to, removes built-up layers of deteriorated asphalt down to a specific depth, making room for a new surface. Pulverizing goes one step further and reclaims the asphalt by mixing it with the existing aggregate base as it grinds, saving the cost of removal and purchase of new aggregate. Our years of expertise will determine the viability of milling or pulverizing, but when feasible these processes can save you considerable overall cost.

Resurfacing

Issues with grades, water problems, tying in with old surfaces, and producing a durable long lasting finished surface, all require competent people in the field. Fine Grading and Paving

Ensure a smooth transition.

Many projects that Hansen Asphalt takes on begin either at the sub-grade or after the rock is already placed by another contractor. Depending on your needs, we will either install the rock and fine grade or fine grade and set the rock before paving. Proper fine grading of the rock sub-base relies on thorough knowledge of paving. An improperly graded rock base can result in an uneven surface course, leading to durability and drainage issues. Crack Filling

Iowa weather exposes your asphalt surfaces to harsh and extreme temperatures leading to cracks and deterioration. Crack sealing is a crucial maintenance step for asphalt surfaces.  We use a high-quality material to fill the cracks to prevent water and debris from entering, which can cause further damage by expanding and weakening the pavement. Crack filling will extend the life of your pavement and allows you to continue to utilize your driveway or parking lot with very little down time.
